Car Free Sunday (23 SEP 07) -
Anyone know what time it starts in the morning and what time it ends?
Thank you.

Hello Jude,
It will start at 9 am and stops at 7 pm. The main access roads into Brussels will be blocked by policemen, and from past experience, they tend to stick to the schedule.

Thank you very much Rita!
Now I need to find out where the access to the main roads into Brussels stop. Can I take my car from Zaventem to Roodebeek métro or is that already impossible? I need to be in Uccle by 10am.
Alternatively I'll have to take the bike to Roodebeek, then metro to Montgomery and then tram.. Pfff!
I guess I'll have no choice! ;o)

Jude,
I’m afraid all access points from the Ring will be blocked (but the Ring itself will remain open) so public transports it is!
Incoming traffic will be redirected to special parking areas (near public transports), just follow the signs.
You can download the leaflet published by the Brussels Region here : http://www.dimanchesansvoiture.irisnet.be/v2/dl/BXLCAP1_0701_Dossier_32p.pdf.
Page 9 shows a map of the city and the 19 communes, and it also shows the various Parking spots available near the ring. (if you have to be in Uccle, parking n° 3 ‘Stalle’ seems a good place to stop).
On the other hand, you may also apply to your local authorities or the Police for a derogation (that is, if you live in Brussels and you are registered here). Since you are running out of time, you can check the web site of your Commune and see if you can download a special derogation form.
If you live out of town, you should apply to the Commune you are heading to (Uccle, in your case). The person in charge of Mobility is Marc Cools (tel 02/348 66 44 - fax 02/348 65 14 – email : [email protected].
Best of luck !
