Brussels Christmas Market
It’s that time of year again, when the historical heart of Brussels lights up for Christmas and takes on a festive glow…
Hailed “Europe’s most original Christmas market” by British tour operators, the Brussels Christmas market, with its 220 rustic pine chalets, cheerful lights and delicious aromas, promises a true holiday atmosphere. Located around the Stock Exchange, Place Ste Catherine and Place du Marché aux Poissons, the stalls offer a range of Christmas gifts, decorations, food and drinks.
Just a few stone’s throw away, the cobbles of the Grand’Place host the giant Christmas tree and the Nativity scene, while the City Hall is brought to life with a Sound and Light show featuring the major European cities.
The traditional open-air ice skating rink can be found on the Place du Marché aux Poissons.
Finland, and the regions of Oulu and Lapland in particular, are the event's guests of honour this year : the Place Ste Catherine offers a typical Lapp atmosphere, where you can enjoy the arts and crafts that come straight from the far North, or sample and purchase salmon that has been smoked before your eyes.
To add to the festive mood, the programme includes street artists, choirs and musical groups…
This is a great opportunity to discover the beauty of Brussels historical centre, strolling along the streets, in a friendly and multicultural atmosphere.
Merry Christmas !
